Revolutionizing Jewelry: The Multifunctional Safety Pin Ring

Margarita Prykhodko's Award-Winning Design Fuses Fun and Fine Jewelry

Unveiling a unique blend of playfulness and sophistication, Margarita Prykhodko's Safety Pin Ring is a revolutionary piece in the world of fine jewelry. This innovative design, which doubles as a brooch, pendant, or bracelet, has won the prestigious Golden A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2022.

Derived from the magical wonderment of childhood, the Safety Pin Ring is part of the Games collection, which aims to fuse fun with fine. The collection encourages daydreaming and lighthearted games through its playful and irreverent references. The Safety Pin Ring, in particular, is a fully functional safety pin that sits over three of the wearer's fingers and can double up as a brooch.

The ring was developed using the 3D Matrix program for the jewelry industry based on the Rhinoceros program. A 3D model was created and grown by prototyping on a 3D printer from wax. The cast was then made in gold, hand-processed, and polished with jewelry threads to highlight the gems' cut, clarity, and color. Precious stones were then fixed into the base product, and the parts were connected into the final figurines.

The Safety Pin Ring is made in 18ct yellow gold, adorned with multicolored gemstones weighing 2.09cts. Despite its intricate design, the ring weighs only 14.40g in total and measures 89.00 mm in height and 30.00 mm in width. It comes in a classic Sybarite box with a logo, made of carton and suede in blue and gold colors.

The multifunctional Safety Pin ring can be transformed into a brooch, pendant, or pin and can be stylized and worn on various occasions with additional charms. This versatility is a testament to Prykhodko's innovative approach to jewelry design, which seeks to introduce kinetic effects and hidden secrets that are a unique joy to own.

The project, which started in January 2021 in London and finished in January 2022 in the same city, took about a year to complete. The process included production, improvements, and quality checks. The ring has never been exhibited before.

One of the main challenges of this project was to combine the design of the piece with its technical side while maintaining it lightweight, wearable, and ergonomic. This was successfully achieved, as evidenced by the ring's award-winning status. The Safety Pin Ring is a testament to Prykhodko's ability to overcome creative, technical, and research challenges to produce unique and innovative designs.

With its trademark number UK00003338242 (2018), the Safety Pin Ring is a protected design under the Sybarite, Sybarite Jewellery, and Sybarite Jewelry trademarks. This innovative piece of jewelry reflects Prykhodko's prodigy and wisdom and significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics.
